Stop Attempts to Mortgage Telangana’s Rights Over Tungabhadra Waters: Harish Rao Writes to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy   Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao has written an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy demanding immediate intervention to protect Telangana’s rightful share in the Tungabhadra river waters and prevent Karnataka from proceeding with what he termed as illegal projects that could severely impact irrigation and drinking water needs in Telangana.   In his letter, Harish Rao stated that one of the greatest injustices suffered by Telangana during the united Andhra Pradesh era was the denial of its legitimate share of Krishna and Godavari river waters. He said the Telangana movement was driven in part by the need to secure water rights and that after statehood, the BRS government successfully redirected river waters to drought-prone regions, transforming districts like Palamuru through large-scale irrigation projects.   Harish Rao alleged that since coming to power, the Congress government has failed to safeguard Telangana’s water interests and has instead adopted policies that compromise the state’s rights for political considerations. He accused the government of remaining silent while Karnataka proceeds with projects on the Tungabhadra River that could adversely affect Telangana.   Questioning the State Government’s stand, Harish Rao asked whether Telangana had indirectly consented to Karnataka’s proposed Kurdi Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Chikkalaparvi and Chikkalamanchi bridge-cum-barrages. He sought clarification on whether the approval granted by Karnataka for the Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme had come at the cost of Telangana’s long-term water interests.   He warned that the projects being taken up by Karnataka upstream of the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) would significantly reduce water flows into Telangana. He said that if these projects are completed, irrigation benefits under RDS would be severely affected, putting thousands of farmers at risk.   Harish Rao questioned why the Telangana Government had failed to officially object to Karnataka’s activities despite the projects allegedly proceeding without mandatory approvals from the Central Water Commission (CWC), Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.   He pointed out that Karnataka was already utilising water far beyond its allocated share in the RDS system and cautioned that the new projects could further diminish Telangana’s rightful allocation.   The former minister recalled that the previous BRS government had undertaken the Tummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme to provide a permanent solution to irrigation problems in the region and had also initiated Phase-II works of the RDS modernisation programme. He alleged that the Congress government had neglected these initiatives and was now endangering the future of RDS, Tummilla and Bhima projects.   Harish Rao further stated that the impact of Karnataka’s projects would extend beyond RDS and affect water inflows into the Srisailam reservoir, thereby impacting major irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, including Kalwakurthy and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects, besides affecting future drinking water requirements.   He accused the State Government of failing to defend Telangana’s interests despite provisions and safeguards incorporated under the Bachawat Tribunal award governing the utilisation of Tungabhadra waters.   In the letter, Harish Rao demanded that the State Government:   1. Immediately oppose Karnataka’s ongoing projects on the Tungabhadra River and formally register objections with the Central Water Commission, KRMB and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. 2. Ensure strict implementation of all conditions and safeguards laid down under the Bachawat Tribunal award. 3. Approach the Supreme Court, if necessary, to challenge Karnataka’s projects and protect Telangana’s rights. 4. Clarify that Telangana’s water interests have not been compromised in exchange for approvals related to the proposed Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme.   Harish Rao warned that the people of Palamuru, who had fought for Telangana’s water rights for decades, would not remain silent if their interests were sacrificed again. He asserted that protecting every drop of water rightfully belonging to Telangana is the constitutional and moral responsibility of the State Government.   He reiterated that the BRS would continue its struggle to safeguard Telangana’s water rights, protect the interests of farmers and oppose any attempt to compromise the State’s long-term interests.  

“People Want KCR’s Governance Back, Congress Has Betrayed Every Section of Society”: KTR   BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that it had deceived farmers, students, youth, women and weaker sections, and asserted that people across the state were yearning for the return of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership.   Addressing a meeting of key BRS party workers at Sathupalli in Khammam district, KTR said the only task left before the people was to “send the anti-people Congress government packing.” He alleged that despite having three ministers from Khammam district holding powerful portfolios, the district had gained nothing under the present administration.   KTR questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s stand on crop procurement and reminded him of his earlier promises as PCC president. “The Chief Minister now says Telangana can procure only as much crop as the Centre permits. If that is the case, why did he earlier promise to procure all crops and provide bonuses to farmers?” he asked. He accused the government of failing farmers by delaying procurement, neglecting Rythu Bharosa and not ensuring the availability of fertilisers.   Highlighting the BRS government’s record, KTR said KCR had deposited nearly Rs.73,000 crore as Rythu Bandhu investment support into the accounts of 72 lakh farmers. In contrast, he alleged, the present Chief Minister had made repeated visits to Delhi without bringing substantial benefits to the state.   The BRS leader also raised concerns over pending fee reimbursement dues and demanded the immediate release of funds to students. He accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil promises made to students and unemployed youth, resulting in widespread frustration.   KTR alleged that the Congress government had weakened welfare and development initiatives launched during the BRS regime, including irrigation projects such as Seetharama. He claimed that while the previous government had laid a strong foundation for Telangana’s growth over ten years, the current administration was reversing that progress.   Referring to party organisation, KTR called upon BRS cadres to remain vigilant during the statewide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and ensure that no eligible voter’s name was removed. He also urged party workers to make the upcoming digital membership drive a grand success.   Assuring full support to party activists, KTR said BRS workers were the foundation of every achievement of the party and promised to stand by them. “I will take responsibility for protecting every party worker like the apple of my eye,” he said.

Instead, the amount saved has been committed towards supporting deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through the “Gift A Smile” initiative.   Implemented in collaboration with the Sir Syed Society, the initiative aims to identify academically bright students studying in government educational institutions, with special focus on orphaned students and those facing financial hardship. Under the programme, the annual tuition fees of selected students will be paid for one academic year, helping them continue their education without financial constraints.   Adding further strength to the initiative, several participating educational institutions have agreed to extend a 50 percent concession in tuition fees following an appeal by the Sir Syed Society. T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the Centre’s failure to approve the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project, stating that it is a glaring example of the Congress government's administrative incompetence and inability to safeguard Telangana’s interests.   KTR alleged that despite making 71 visits to New Delhi, the Chief Minister has failed to secure the Centre’s approval for Metro Phase-II, exposing his lack of influence and ineffective leadership.   “While the Central Government has approved metro projects for cities such as Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and other states, the Telangana government has failed to obtain clearance for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must explain to the people of Hyderabad why he could not secure this crucial project,” KTR said.   The BRS leader alleged that the Chief Minister lacks the courage to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government due to political compulsions arising from the alleged ‘cash-for-vote’ case pending against him.   “Unable to question the Centre over its discrimination against Telangana, Revanth Reddy is resorting to the cheap tactic of blaming the opposition BRS to divert public attention from his own failures,” KTR said.   He further alleged that Revanth Reddy has entered into a covert understanding with the BJP, which, according to him, explains why repeated visits to Delhi have yielded no results for Telangana.   KTR said the Chief Minister’s own remarks that he was treated dismissively during his visits to Delhi reflect his inability to effectively represent the state’s interests before the Centre. Demanding accountability, KTR called upon the Chief Minister to apologise to the people of Hyderabad for what he described as a complete failure in securing Metro Phase-II and for allegedly jeopardising the future expansion of the existing metro network.   “The people of Hyderabad deserve answers as to why approvals and financial support that were secured swiftly during the previous BRS government are now being delayed under the Congress administration,” he said.   ‘Credit for Hyderabad Metro Goes to KCR’   KTR asserted that the credit for successfully completing the Hyderabad Metro Rail project belongs entirely to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He recalled that when the BRS assumed office in 2014, only 28 per cent of the metro works had been completed during the previous Congress regime. “Under the leadership of KCR, the BRS government expedited execution and completed the remaining 72 per cent of the project, despite various challenges and limited support from the Centre,” he said.   KTR stated that Hyderabad Metro has emerged as one of India’s most successful urban transport systems, serving nearly five lakh passengers every day.   ‘Metro Phase-II Was Designed for Public Needs’   KTR said the previous BRS government had designed Metro Phase-II based on traffic congestion, urban expansion and the mobility needs of citizens.   He stated that the project was planned with six corridors, 72 stations and a total network length of 76.4 kilometres to cater to Hyderabad’s rapidly growing population. Criticising the Congress government’s approach, KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy was prioritising metro connectivity to a “non-existent imaginary city” driven by personal interests instead of focusing on routes that would benefit the public.   He accused the Chief Minister of shelving the Phase-II project over the last two-and-a-half years and reiterated that the cancellation of the Shamshabad Metro corridor soon after assuming office was a betrayal of Hyderabad’s residents.   ‘Threats to L&T Driving Investors Away’   KTR also accused the state government of intimidating Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the company that developed the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.   He alleged that the Congress government was attempting to pressure the company as part of a conspiracy to take control of valuable metro assets and prime land associated with the project.   “The government’s alleged threats and hostile approach towards L&T have created uncertainty around the future of Hyderabad Metro and undermined investor confidence in Telangana,” KTR said.   He alleged that the Chief Minister was jeopardising the future of Hyderabad Metro for personal and political interests.   KTR demanded that the state government immediately clarify its roadmap for Metro Phase-II and ensure that Hyderabad’s long-term transportation needs are not compromised.  

Probing the ₹30,000 Crore Metro Takeover Scam: BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju Demands Inquiry by a Sitting High Court Judge   Slams CM Revanth Reddy's Incompetence, Extortionist Scams, and Secret Nexus with BJP    Slamming Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Dr. Sravan Dasoju stated that the Chief Minister is completely incompetent at governance but highly skilled in spreading blatant lies and making baseless, malicious allegations.   Invoking the Telugu proverb "Chellani roopaayiki geethalu ekkuva" (a counterfeit coin has too many markings), Dr. Sravan pointed out that Revanth Reddy proves time and again that he is an inefficient and incapable leader with absolutely no vision. He stressed that the Chief Minister's daily routine of hurling mud at BRS leaders KCR and KTR is a desperate attempt to cover up his administration's massive failures, corruption, and financial scandals that are pushing the state into ruin.   Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, Dr. Sravan Dasoju raised the following critical points:   1. The ₹30,000 Crore Metro Takeover Mega-Scam The Suspicious "Under-the-Table" Deal: While the market value of the Hyderabad Metro assets stands at around ₹30,000 crore, Revanth Reddy is boastfully claiming to have taken it over for just ₹15,000 crore. "Is Revanth Reddy a son-in-law to L&T company to get such a massive discount?" Dr. Sravan asked, demanding full transparency regarding the exact amount exchanged in "under-the-table" settlements.   Shifting Private Debt onto Taxpayers: Under the mandatory Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement, L&T is legally obligated to bear all financial profits or losses. Dr. Sravan questioned why Revanth Reddy chose to dump L&T’s massive debt of ₹13,538 crore onto the shoulders of the people of Telangana, comparing it to an unauthorized, illegal squandering of public money.   Crony Capitalism & Benami Plotting: Dr. Sravan alleged that under the pretext of a government takeover, Revanth Reddy is plotting to hand over more than 60 prime metro stations, 12 to 15 lakh square feet of ultra-modern mall spaces, and highly valuable real estate lands to his close benamis and real estate syndicates.   Demand for Judicial Probe: Dr. Sravan challenged the Chief Minister, stating that if he has even an ounce of integrity, honesty, or courage, he must immediately order a comprehensive inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into the entire procurement deal.   2. Blackmailing and Extorting the L&T CFO Dr. Sravan revealed that right after the Congress government took charge, the CFO of L&T Metro had merely pointed out a statistical decline in daily ridership. Enraged by this fact, Revanth Reddy used state machinery to threaten and blackmail the CFO with imprisonment.   By weaponizing state agencies to systematically threaten investors, the Chief Minister has created an atmosphere of absolute fear. Consequently, major international and national investors are terrified of coming to Hyderabad, severely damaging Telangana's hard-earned reputation as India's premier investment hub.   3. Absolute Ignorance on 'CURE, PURE, and RARE' Criticizing the Chief Minister's recent press statement concerning Hyderabad's civic jurisdiction, Dr. Sravan noted that neither Revanth Reddy, his cabinet ministers, nor senior Congress leaders possess any socio-economic or rational understanding of concepts like CURE, PURE, or RARE. He mocked that the CM is merely parroting fancy words scripted for him by a private advertising agency.   He challenged Revanth Reddy to an open, structured debate on these urban development models before premium professional and industrial bodies like FICCI and CII, rather than slicing up Telangana like a piece of cake due to his sheer lack of administrative experience.   4. Blaming KCR for Metro Delays is the "Lie of the Century" Dr. Sravan set the historical record straight regarding the Phase-1 Metro delays. Between 2009 and 2014, the Congress party changed three Chief Ministers (YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K. Rosaiah, and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy), resulting in zero administrative control while the Telangana statehood movement was at its peak. The delay was entirely due to Congress’s incompetence.   Defending the BRS track record, Dr. Sravan highlighted that during the movement, KCR rightfully advocated for protecting Hyderabad's heritage. After becoming Chief Minister, KCR seamlessly ensured that heritage sites like Sultan Bazar, Mozamjahi Market, and the State Assembly remained completely intact, while completing the Metro Phase-1 in record time—making it a world-class, successful project.   In stark contrast, Revanth Reddy has no respect for history, heritage, or religious sentiments, as his administration continues to demolish temples and mosques. Out of pure political malice against KCR and KTR, Revanth Reddy abruptly canceled the ₹6,250 crore Hitech City to Shamshabad Airport Metro Phase-2 project, which had already been tendered and foundation-laid by the previous BRS government.   5. Surrender to Delhi: The Secret Congress-BJP Nexus Dr. Sravan fiercely called out Revanth Reddy's double standards regarding Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. While the CM blames Kishan Reddy for allegedly blocking central clearances for Metro expansion, Dr. Sravan questioned, "What are your 8 Congress MPs doing in Parliament? Why are they sitting idle?"   Revanth Reddy has visited Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi more times than any other Chief Minister in India, including those from BJP-ruled states. Yet, he has failed to secure a single concrete project clearance. He cannot secure an appointment with a neighboring Chief Minister to resolve river projects, nor can he convince a Union Minister from his own state. This highlights his absolute administrative failure.   Recalling PM Modi’s public invitation to Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad ("Hamse jud jaao" / Join hands with us) and the Chief Minister's submissive response of bowing with folded hands, Dr. Sravan stated that the BJP-Congress match-fixing in Telangana is now wide open. Revanth Reddy has completely surrendered the self-respect of Telangana to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.    Even the AICC high command in Delhi looks at Revanth Reddy with intense suspicion and anxiety, viewing him as another Himanta Biswa Sarma who might jump ship to the BJP at any given moment.   Dr. Sravan sarcastically suggested, "If you and your MPs are too cowardly to fight for Hyderabad's rights in Parliament, hand over the Metro file to MP Renuka Chowdhury. She has the spine to confront the Modi government and bring back our clearances." Conclusion   Dr. Sravan Dasoju concluded by stating that Revanth Reddy’s administration has degenerated into an extortion racket, collecting commissions on everything from school children’s shoes, books, and uniforms to HMDA land auctions. He alleged that the Chief Minister is desperately mortgaging the welfare of Telangana and the fate of the prestigious Metro project to please PM Modi, solely to escape his own legal vulnerabilities in the infamous "Note-for-Vote" scam.   The BRS party demands nothing less than an immediate, independent inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the entire Metro takeover deal to expose the multi-crore under-the-table transactions to the public.
