Telangana became India’s fastest-growing state by achieving the highest per capita income among large states. The state witnessed remarkable economic progress during the BRS government’s tenure, with per capita income increasing from ₹1,12,162 in 2013–14 to ₹3,12,398 in 2022–23.

Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) also saw substantial growth, rising from ₹4.51 lakh crore in 2013–14 to ₹13.13 lakh crore in 2022–23. The state consistently outperformed the national average in economic indicators, driven by rapid expansion in agriculture, industry, services, and IT sectors.

State-owned tax revenue growth touched an impressive 37.6% in 2021–22, reflecting strong economic activity and improved fiscal performance. Overall, Telangana recorded an average annual growth rate of around 24% during the BRS rule, highlighting the state’s rapid economic transformation and development trajectory.

Under the leadership of former CM KCR, Telangana witnessed a major transformation in the agriculture sector through farmer-centric welfare initiatives. Schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, free power supply to agriculture, Mission Kakatiya, and the Kaleshwaram Project significantly strengthened rural livelihoods and irrigation infrastructure.

These initiatives led to a sharp rise in cultivated land across the state. The cultivated area expanded from 1.31 crore acres to 2.68 crore acres during the BRS government’s tenure.

Paddy production also surged remarkably, increasing from 68 lakh tonnes to 3.5 crore tonnes. With this rapid growth in agricultural output, Telangana emerged as India’s leading paddy-producing state. The achievements reflected the impact of large-scale irrigation development and sustained support for farmers under the BRS government.

Telangana emerged as India’s most successful startup and IT hubs under the BRS government, with a strong focus on innovation, investments, and expansion of IT growth. Hyderabad transformed into a premier global destination for technology companies, attracting major investments and expansion projects from leading firms.

Telangana accounted for nearly 44% of the new IT jobs created in India during 2022-23, highlighting its growing dominance in the technology sector. IT/ITeS exports reached a record ₹2.41 lakh crore in 2022-23, registering a remarkable 31.44% annual growth.

During the same period, Telangana added over 1.27 lakh new IT jobs, taking total employment in the sector to more than 9 lakh, reflecting the rapid expansion of the state’s digital economy.

The BRS government strengthened Telangana’s education sector through major investments in school, higher, technical, and medical education. With over 1,000 BC, SC, ST, and Minority Gurukul institutions, Telangana now has the highest number of residential educational institutions in India.

Around ₹1.25 lakh was spent annually per student to provide quality education, food, accommodation, and modern facilities.

These Gurukuls have helped thousands of underprivileged students secure top ranks and admissions into IITs, IIMs, reputed Indian universities, and foreign institutions.

The BRS government laid strong emphasis on infrastructure development across Telangana, transforming both urban and rural landscapes through large-scale public investments.

Major initiatives like the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) and Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP), landmark irrigation projects, along with Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, strengthened water security for households and agriculture across the state.

The government also expanded public infrastructure by establishing new government medical colleges, hospitals, integrated district collectorate complexes, and modern SP office buildings in several districts. These projects collectively enhanced connectivity, governance, healthcare, irrigation, and urban infrastructure, contributing to Telangana’s rapid development trajectory.

Medical and health has been one of the top priority sectors for the BRS government since the formation of Telangana. Under the leadership of KCR, special emphasis was placed on strengthening public healthcare infrastructure, modernising hospitals, and expanding access to quality medical services.

Several new initiatives and welfare schemes were introduced to improve healthcare delivery across the state. The state recorded notable progress across key health indicators and emerged as one of the top-performing states in healthcare.

Telangana improved its national healthcare ranking from 11th place in 2014 to 3rd place in 2023, reflecting the major advancements made in the medical and health sector.
